Summary

The Doctor is in! Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth marks the Doctor's first appearance on Nintendo's handheld DS console, and while the BBC and developer Asylum Entertainment might be thinking small, they're aiming big.

Giving the game an air of authenticity for all the Whovians out there is the inclusion of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan's voice talent as the Doctor and Amy respectively. Who scribe Oli Smith has also been brought in to make sure the story rings true for Who fans – and what a story!

The Doctor and his companion arrive in the Lake District only a handful of hours before a solar storm is set to wipe all life from the face of the Earth - just in time to see the last humans evacuate, in fact. However, you know it's not going to be a straightforward affair. Right after they land the Tardis is whisked away and bolted to the space ship. Investigating further, they discover that a Silurian ship has been built right underneath it. No sooner that the Doctor seems to have the situation in hand, the Daleks turn up! It's never a dull day for the Doctor, eh?

Gameplay takes the form of a series of puzzles, in a manner that will be familiar to players of the Professor Layton games. There are over 100 puzzles to complete, with three different types of mini-game. There are also plenty of objects to be collected, combined and used as you go about saving the last humans on Earth.

So what are you waiting for? There's a solar storm coming!
