Australian developer is no more

 Krome Studios closes
Brisbane-based games developer Krome Studios, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed among others, has closed it can be revealed.

The staff at the Australian game studio were let go from their positions on Friday, October 15th with key members being re-hired as a skeleton crew to finish off development duties.

This follows reductions in Krome's workforce in April and November last year when 50 and 60 employees were let go respectively.

The studio was probably best know for titles such as the recent Blade Kitten, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger and, of course, versions of the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed franchise.

It is sad to see the developer, formed in 1999, close its doors for the final time. We wish all of Krome Studios' former employees the best in their future endeavours.

There is very very little incentive for youth to go into a games industry related job any more, with the whole industry on a thin line, it certainly doesn't look to be a decent career choice any more.

@haritori
It never was a decent career choice. Look up anyone on LinkedIn who's been in the industry for 10 years or more, they've all got several different companies under their belts and at least 2 redundancies.

There's nothing new about studio closures although it definitely is getting worse in this country at the moment (and yes, I know the story is about the closure of an Australian developer)

With games costing more than 100 a pop now, where is all that money going? obviously not the studios.

Could this have any-thing to do with Blade Kitten (which they've been promoting for years) being trash??
