Its clearly an attempt to hold the ever rapid progress of the games industry back, but in the long run it won't work.

Manhunt/GTA while controversial, are the types of adult games that push and expand the bounderies of what a piece of games entertainment can be. In the future, such topics as sex, relationships and other stuff will become more common place as the industry ages.

They won't be able to plug this dyke with such low down fingered actions forever.

Once again, for some reason conspiracy takes precedent over cock-up. Who is behind this attempt to 'hold the progress of the industry back"? A shady cartel of film, television and The Premiershit (sic) football executives? Martians? Or is it merely that the people asked to vet the game don't understand what they're looking at?

I've seen Manhunt 2 and the only boundary it pushes are those of my patience at its utter crapness. Let's not go over the top about this one. Just because adults are being disabled from buying s**t doesn't make the s**t less s**t.

Rockstar - bless it - is rapidly becoming the Hammer Studios of videogaming. Don't get me wrong, I love the old Christopher Lee vs Peter Cushing (or Oliver Reed as the Wolfman) but despite what Cultural Studies students say, Hammer made movies for cash and not post-modern, cultural advances.

I've only seen GTA IV in trailer form at the moment - it doesn't appeal to me. It does appeal to many other SPOnG contributors. Fair enough.

As will cheap exploitation games; 'straight to budget' and wanky art-games. So what? What's your point?

I understand what you are saying, but there's also a lot of trash films and books out there for sale, on the same level of Manhunt 2. Despite Manhunt 2 not being a Halo beater, what makes those books and films more viable than Manhunt 2?

The truth is nothing. Whether the game is crap or not isn't the question. This is about censorship of adult materia,l laced with that same flag of fear Fox recently waved at Mass Effect.

Film media has its demons, A Clockwork Orange, American Psycho, Death Wish etc, with many crapper examples out there too. All these have questionable and dark content, Atleast as an adult i have the option to buy them.

And on top of all that, I find it hard to back the BBFC, when they passed Manhunt 2 by their own freaking system, then done a double standards double take on it with the High Court bs. Can you really sit there and call this fair and just?

You'll say ''Why should I fight for this games release''? Because they (BBFC) fired the first shot in our direction, in fear of unfounded ifs and maybes. Its very easy to hide behind 'protect the children' even when the game is aimed at adults. It seems adult don't matter anymore these days.

Think of it in this way or perhaps this one from Call of Duty 4. ''For evil to succeed, all it takes is for good men to do nothing''

This same kind of saying applies to games when they are clearly being targeted in this unfair way. If you feel free to sit back and do nothing that's your choice, but atleast you have a choice to do or not to do so. Today it'll be Manhunt 2 or Mass Effect, but tomorrow it'll be some other titles getting cut down by the powers that be.

And its not gonna end there, til we end it by taking some kind of stand.
