For a long time I assumed FTW was some dumbass typo of WTF.

When I realised that WTF was contextually inappropriate, not to mention occurring way too much to be the result of fat-fingered imperfectionists (unperfectionists?), I Goog'd it.

I'm still not really any wiser on the matter. Maybe I'm too old to get why "for the win" is an appropriate replacement for "my, that is good", "I jolly well like that". Yet I fully "get" the use of "fail".

No matter, to this day my mind still decodes the optical stimulus produced by the letters "FTW" as "what the f**k"

Oh sweet our lord the little baby jesus (and his representative on earth, Herr Pope)! The word 'Fail' always written as 'FAIL'!

I hate that more than "back in the day" which I utterly despise.

Anyway, here are some more I mined from other forums:

"Just sayin'" - why? Why do people feel the need to say that?

"I can easily see X totally happening to Y" - Arghghg!!

"Game N is going to totally rock" - when it comes out in 5 years!!

"Stop hating ON it" - eh? Why? An additional word? What for?

I really should get out more...

The additional preposition specifies that the person making the statement objects not to the feelings and opinions of the person the statement is directed at but instead is objecting to the expression of such feelings and opinions, implied is that such criticism is excessive or unjustified.

Origin:American Southern/Urban slang, possibly influenced by other languages (French via Creole, etc.)

See, for a moment there I almost thought, "That makes sense"... but then I started hating it as an explanation and I was also hating the words that were used in the explanation plus I hated the idea behind it. I hated the fact that, for some reason, the notion that if this useless additional word has got some linguistic roots it validates it. All I can say is that the bloody creoles et al were wrong as well.

I hope you're well and things are going nicely for you though Roi.

Cheers

Tim

PS: back in the day I never used to hold these views going forward in or out of the box.

I can totally remember back in the day when you were all down with the kids and not all totally hating on s**t and stuff.

I understand your curmudgeonliness. It's because you are a curmudgeon.

But what (TF) is the problem with "I can see X happening to Y?" You make presumptious assumptive predictions all the time. Though you "cunningly" phrase them as questions. How is that not exactly the similar thing?

No you don't. We met when I was already embittered and scared by the kids. You're thinking of someone else.

And proud of it. My Curmudgeonly people have put up with enough Attitudeism! Life is cold, hard, brutish and short and so are we*.

I have never, ever, ever said that a game that might be out in six years time is going to be great and that if you don't agree with me then you are a lamernoob or nooblamer.

I totally hate on those noobs who say s**ts like "Dark Human IV: The Humbling has been announced by SlopSoft for 2012 release - it is going to totally be rooling on s**t so stop hating on it and crying you loamersloobs!"

I hate them as much as I hate the namerloobs who respond, "I totally know that its going to be Uber FAIL!"

Now bugger off and take you Xmas carols with you.

Tim

* Obviously I am soft and southern but it wouldn't have worked... and if anybody wants to correct me on my Thomas Hobbes quote, they can bugger off as well.

PS: the kids frighten me with their 'ways'.

The word starts with an " R " and ends with an " E " , as well it has an A and a P . It gets used in a heated second by old and young ( 9year olds ) alike . It is a BAD word that happens mostly to women , apparently a lot of them ! 1 in 4 and then their family and friends are touch by it as well ! SO DO THE MATH , AT A PARTY OF 200 , HALF BEING WOMEN .
