Price discrimination... the people who wanted earthbound really really wanted it. Will it get as many sales and downloads as something like SMW or Megaman? Probably not... but the people who want it will most likely be happy to pay the extra $2.
Truthfully I think it's absolutely worth it. I may have spent a few hours each on F-Zero, Super Metroid, Punch Out, Donkey Kong or Baloon Fight... but I wouldn't have bought them had it not been for the 30 cent deal. I only got Earthbound because one of my friends raved about it... and it could be the best $10 I spent on any video game so far. It's easily the best money I've spent on a Nintendo game.
I can understand people being a little perterbed it's more expensive... but for the price of a movie ticket it's still a deal in my mind.
