Summary

A couple of weeks on from the game's GameCube and PlayStation 2 release, the latest instalment of Sega Sports' NFL sim finally comes to Xbox in what is essentially an exact port, albeit with the odd visual discrepancy.

As with the other versions, the game promises the usual selection of well-known players from the sport, along with a plethora of statistics and stadium venues. And building on the spectacular gameplay and presentation of previous games in the 2K series, NFL 2K3 raises the proverbial bar once again with new life-like player animations, play-calling intelligence, an on-the-fly audible system and a new ESPN broadcast system.

From a visual standpoint, NFL 2K3 is an expected improvement over previous games, as tends to be the case with most sequels in a series like this. But aside from improved eye candy, perhaps the most significant addition to the title is its Franchise Mode. Here you can track comprehensive player stats and make shrewd trades to build your franchise, in similar vein to a career mode.

On the whole, NFL 2K3 is a high quality representation of American Footy from a high quality development team. It's full of all the usual updates and improvements we've come to expect from the annually revamped series - if NFL games are your bag, then it's well worth consideration.
