Summary

Games like Ninja Gaiden might have trained us to think that being a ninja is all about slashing your way violently through opponents and full-on bloodshed, but that's not the way real ninjas operate. No, it's all about sticking to the shadows and striking without being seen. It's this tradition that Shinobido 2: Tales of the Ninja honours.

The sequel to Shinobido: Way of the Ninja, the game picks up six months after its predecessor. Utakata, a once peaceful region, is now in the grip of civil war. It is against this background that players take on the role of Zen - a man betrayed by his companions and left for dead. Seeking revenge, he takes up the way of the ninja, wreaking silent retribution on those who have wronged him.

Making stealthy kills is the name of the game. Developer Acquire has made the most of the PS Vita's hardware, with weapons such as caltrops and ninja stars activated using the touch screen.

Revenge is a dish best served cold, and in utter silence...
