Summary

Dragon Fighter is a Platform Beat'Em Up set in medieval times. You are Dragon Fighter (who looks very similar to Robin Hood), and your quest is to defend your world from invading creatures. Your weapon of choice is a sword a la Conan the Barbarian, but it is also possible to transform into a powerful dragon (when the meter under the energy bar is full) who can unleash deadly fireballs at unsuspecting enemies. There are six action-packed levels that will test even the most ardent gamer.

The graphics are not the best you will ever see on a NES, but they're certainly not the worst. The sprites are not very colourful, but move fluently enough. The animation when Dragon Fighter morphs in and out of dragon form is done quite well. Both the sound and music complement the overall gameplay. The sounds of Dragon Fighter's sword-swinging and exploding enemies are clear, while each level has a different tune which is pleasant on the ear. The controls are very simple and take no time getting used to. It is also very easy to strike enemies, from the front or behind.

Overall, Dragon Fighter is a game worth scouring the bargain bins for and is definitely worth a purchase.
