Summary

As the sequel to the incredible Myst, Riven has a lot to live up to. To beat the visuals and atmosphere of the first game really takes some doing, but the developers have done just that.

Surpassing Myst in almost every way, Riven features many environments spread across several thousand high quality pre-renders, not to mention hours of animation, music and sound effects. Myst was always known for being focused towards atmosphere and puzzle solving elements, and Riven reinforces that.

Riven’s puzzles are as compelling as they were in Myst, and cater for a wide range of skills. Riven’s tasks and challenges begin simply enough, but the further you progress, the more difficult the upcoming obstacles become. Some puzzles will have you baffled for days, and when you’re caught up in the atmosphere of the game, you’ll soon wonder where the time went.

Quite simply, Riven is every bit as good as the original, if not better. Buy it now.
