Summary

Developed by Team 17, Worms Armageddon is the third instalment in a series of highly popular puzzle/combat titles. For the N64, this title comes complete with all the suicidal worms you could ask for in a full on 2D frenzy.

For the Nintendo 64, Worms Armageddon employs a completely new control method, thanks to the capabilities of the controller. C-buttons are now used for movement as opposed to a directional pad, and the analogue controller acts as a camera. Some of you used to the original control methods, may find this revised title a little bit frustrating to get to grips with, but don’t let this put you off. It’s still the same game after all. Once you have gotten used to the mechanics of the game, it’s time to start having some fun.

There are more weapons than ever in this new version, but some of the most popular moves have been retained, such as the infamous Kamikaze move. There are literally thousands of playing areas in which to battle in, randomising the outcome a little. The cute squeaky voices from the original titles have also been kept on for another episode. “Revenge.”

Still a great title despite its ageing technology. Get some friends in and have a battle; you’ll be there all night.
