Summary

The controversial subject of crime is an area that hasn’t had a great deal of exposure in the video games industry until recent years. Following the release of the Grand Theft Auto series, software houses across the world have had the courage to release such provocative titles. Gangsters, a crime game from Eidos, like its genre counterparts, has had a degree of media attention that made it a well-noticed game, and not without reason.

For this particular outing against the police, you will take on the role of four different gang leaders, beginning in four different locations across a crime-infested city. Your ultimate goal within the game is to become the crime overlord of the city. To do this, you must master the intricacies of organised crime. There are two main sections within the game that consist of the organiser and the working week. In the organiser you will learn to manage teams of gangs, view city information and enforce orders to assault, steal, and even murder targeted citizens of the town. When participating in the working week, you’ll have the option to see the results of your orders, look for new targets and take immediate action against intruders trying to steal your thunder.

As an isometric scrolling game, similar to that in most management games, Gangsters has little visual prowess to offer. However, when gameplay comes under the same scrutiny, there is little to falter this aggressive title. You can run the whole city - go on, use your power, break the law.
