Summary

There are many titles in the simulation genre, although not many of them make it to the console market. Railroad Tycoon 2 is an exception. Released for PlayStation, this title puts you in the position of creating, building and managing your very own railway. Since the invention of the wheel, mankind has been fixated on transportation, and to this day, railways have helped to create some of the largest cities in the world.

RRT2 offers a vast array of railway related scenarios for you to take on. It’s up to you to help cities all over the globe through the transportation of merchandise, passengers and other needy stationary objects. You are given a 2-dimensional, isometric view of the scenario of your choice. Within this environment, you must use the tools provided to create your own railway, complete with stations, and locomotive engines to transport the goods requested by the cities you build for.

Given that this is a PC designed title, Railroad Tycoon 2 is best played with a mouse, solely for ease of control. Without one, your patience may well be tested. Remember, you need not be a train spotter to enjoy this title.
