Summary

Consider the original Rollcage. A mind-bending, gravity-defying futuristic racer, vivid colours galore, with a variety of weapons to blow your opponents off the track. Great! Yet only remembered with a deal of fondness by a loyal few. Rollcage suffered somewhat, because of Psygnosis’ other vision of future racing, Wipeout, with it’s then exclusive tracks from some of the biggest disco biscuits around, and some stunning graphics and gameplay.

With the arrival of Rollcage 2, we witness a valiant attempt to redress the balance. There’s absolutely no doubt that all of these games are extremely playable:any gift would be gratefully received, but most importantly, Rollcage 2 is a belter of a sequel.

If anything, it’s even faster and more furious than the original, has more race options, and some fantastically inventive weapons. Try the tazer, the drill rocket, or the laser spike to deter your opponents. Enter the league option and your progress will be rewarded with, gasp, even more powerful vehicles. Focus too intently on the screen and you can almost feel the g-force. Rollcage 2 is the ideal antidote to all those ‘serious’ racing simulations cluttering up the shelves. So, do as the game demonstrates, put your brain in neutral, turn your pockets inside out, and shell out for the supreme sci-fi spectacle that is Rollcage 2.
