Summary

Grand Theft Auto 2 for the Dreamcast is a controversial game designed with the older gamer in mind. The content would probably rest better with those of us who are less impressionable as GTA is about car-jacking and working for the mob. If you are comfortable with adult language and themes such as drug running or blowing up police stations then GTA2 is in a league of it’s own. The Dreamcast version plays so well. It takes a bit of time to learn the layouts of the cities as they are on the large side. Luckily, you get an indicator arrow pointing you roughly in the direction you need to be going to complete your mission.

The way GTA2 works is that you answer payphones to receive instructions from Mr. Big, then if you are successful in your task, money and respect is your reward. Make enough money and you can try to conquer a different city. One example would be stealing two taxi cabs and taking them to the docks for a paintjob. There are three rival gangs in GTA2, if you do jobs for one, you’re likely to upset the other gangs. Diplomacy is the key.

GTA2 is an addictive and tricky game with a non-linear mission structure. Mature gamers enjoy.
