Summary
Although Playmobil’s presence in the industry is not a prominent one, they do make games that are great for reaching their specified target audience. In conjunction with software giants Ubi Soft, Playmobil have gone to work on Nintendo’s Game Boy Color to produce Laura. Now released, and in time for the Christmas rush of 2000, primary school girls should have a blast with this one.
If Laura had to be categorised, it could only fit under one genre that would be even remotely appropriate – miscellaneous. While the whole game does not belong to any single area in the industry, Laura incorporates many different genres from start to finish.
After finding an old magic diamond in her attic, she soon embarks on a light-hearted adventure to solve its mysteriousness. There are five missions that must be successfully tackled in order to reveal the game’s secret. You will find yourself running errands around the Playmobil universe, making everyone’s life a little easier, because you’re just – that – kind. To accomplish these individual missions there are ten mini-games that must be completed successfully; each one having its own unique theme. They incorporate puzzle games, memory games, and even platform games.
Unless you’re a girl under the age of ten, Laura will be of no interest to you what so ever. But it would make a great present for anyone young enough to appreciate it.
