In fact, running up to the net and engaging furious volley action seems like second nature. The four-player mode could entertain a room full of people all night. Although simple to get into, there is a lot of gameplay to master.

Graphically, Virtua Tennis is fantastic. It’s presented in high resolution and runs smoothly with extreme levels of detail. It’s possible to recognise players like Tim Henman just from the texture maps used in game. Different surfaces affect the ball just as you would expect, but with practice you’ll be able to use this to your advantage.

All of these attributes combine sweetly to make Virtua Tennis a quadruple ‘A’ title.
