The events that you compete in are as follows: 100 meter dash, the long jump, shot put, high jump, 110 meter hurdles, javelin and finally the 1500 meter race. Each event has different skills that you must master. Thankfully, before each event an explanation is given showing what to do and the optimum angle (if required). The thing that makes this game tricky is that the more speed you are carrying, the harder it becomes to judge when to perform the actions necessary. Your timing has to constantly change to compensate.
In Virtua Athlete 2K you can create your own custom character to take part in your own custom exhibitions. This adds personality, depth and attachment to the game. Virtua Athlete 2K is definitely a party game.
