Summary

When the original MDK was launched in the late nineties, it was just one of a large number of first-person shoot-em-up releases. Its success led to the production of another highly desirable sequel that was released in the final days of the previous generation of machines. Building on its success, the MDK series is about to enter another stage of development with MDK 2 Armageddon on PlayStation 2; the most accomplished version yet.

Once again, you assume control of an unlikely hero, a surprisingly intelligent dog, and an eccentric doctor named Hawkins. Playing as all three characters, you are guaranteed three unique and intriguing gameplay experiences. Building on the original, MDK 2 showcases improved environments, particularly on PlayStation 2. Locations are now vast, featuring larger rooms and massive outdoor missions. But with larger scale gameplay comes an increased challenged. Enemies are more cunning than ever, and the odds can often be overwhelming. But to ease the player into the game and improve the fluidity of MDK 2 Armageddon, in-game hints are now available in the trickier sections, along with full analogue support. The inclusion of adjustable difficulty settings makes this latest version of the series the most accessible to date, although parental guidance is advised for younger players.

All the aforementioned features make MDK 2 Armageddon a truly comprehensive game. With all existing weapons, gadgets and black holes intact for this enhanced version, there is little more Interplay can do to perfect this great title.
