Chrono Trigger

CHRONO TRIGGER® is a time-traveling RPG utilizing Square's revolutionary battle system in a memorable story, available for the first time on the PlayStation® game console (PS one) in the U.S. in FINAL FANTASY CHRONICLES™: FINAL FANTASY® IV and CHRONO TRIGGER®. Dubbed as the "Dream Project" CHRONO TRIGGER is a collaboration between Hironobu Sakaguchi (FINAL FANTASY series), Yuji Horii (Dragon Quest), and Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball Z).

Crono's carefree life suddenly becomes much more difficult as a day at the Millennium fair goes awry. When Marle, a princess in hiding, steps into the brilliant inventor, Lucca's teleportation device, it hurls her to another time period. Now, it is up to Crono to find her. During his trek, Crono eventually learns that an intergalactic parasite is on the loose and the fate of the world rests in his hands.

Taking place in several time periods, the storyline in CHRONO TRIGGER is non-linear, allowing the player's decision direct the outcome. With over twelve possible endings, players of the SuperNES versions found themselves compelled to play the game over and over again. New movies will be created for the port including the opening and ending scenes. Several sequences memorable to players of the original will also be recreated, adding emotional impact for players new and old alike.

Final Fantasy IV

Originally released for the SuperNES in 1991, FINAL FANTASY® IV (FINAL FANTASY® II in the U.S.) is still praised today by gamers and critics alike as a groundbreaking title, with its revolutionary Active Time Battle (ATB) system and engrossing storyline. FINAL FANTASY IV is available for the first time on the PlayStation® game console (PS one), with another classic SQUARE title in a compilation package titled FINAL FANTASY CHRONICLES™: FINAL FANTASY® IV & CHRONO TRIGGER®.

Cecil, captain of Baron's elite force, the Red Wings, is ordered by the king to seize the Crystal of Water from Mysidia. He obeys, but is stricken with guilt over this unprovoked show of force. Upon his return home to Baron, he questions the King as to his motives. Enraged, the king accuses him of disloyalty, strips Cecil of his command, and sends him off to slay a mysterious beast that is plaguing the nearby Mist Valley. Cecil embarks on a fateful journey that will bring formidable trials, appalling betrayals, friendship, loss, and self-discovery. He learns he must reject old beliefs and open his eyes to the world he lives in before he can save it.

The ATB system, which made its debut in FINAL FANTASY IV, gave traditional turn-based fighting a dynamic spin, and has become a standard in many RPGs today. FINAL FANTASY IV's memorable characters and plot were also a novelty for the genre, transcending the one-dimensional characters and quests typical of that time. Today, this added depth has likewise become a staple of the modern RPG.
