Summary

IncaGold’s foray into the world of the real-time strategy game may not be given the same kind of fanfare as, say, a Microsoft title, but that’s not the say their releases are any less competent. On the contrary, the release of Tombstone 1882 for PC demonstrates just what this small developer is capable of.

Many real-time strategy games are based around some kind of 2D scrolling environment, isometric or otherwise. But Tombstone 1882 has been developed in full 3D, consisting of some vast environments that are highly detailed and look beautiful. The game has been set around a classic period of Wild Western America, in which two clans are at war with each other. You assume the role of the Earp Clan in a quest to eradicate the evil James Clan.

The game comprises of 20 campaign missions, all of which have several challenging objectives including bank robberies and jailbreaks. But this not a game of quick draw: you must strategy and quick wits to successfully complete any of the game’s levels. For those that find this task a little daunting, or if you’re new to the genre, a tutorial mode has been incorporated to teach players the mechanics of a typical game. It’s well worth taking advantage of.

While essentially a hardcore RTS game, Tombstone 1882 features several innovative playing aspects that help to make this game intriguing and unique. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do - so mosey on down to your local feedstore and git yourself one of these. Darn tootin'!
