Summary

The game of the film starring the guy with possibly the hardest sounding name ever now comes to the GameCube. Not just a name though, this chap is tough, as is anyone who runs around beating people up in his underpants.

In the story, players assume the role of the big lad Mathayus (The Scorpion King) as he travels around various exotic locations, unleashing a barrage of pain and punishment on the game's armies of unfortunate enemies. It seems that that's what you need to do if you aspire to become one of the deadly assassins known as the Akkadians.

A kind of adventure-lite, The Scorpion King places most of its emphasis on combat, which comes in the form of fierce hand-to-hand and weapon-based combo attacks. In the case of the weapons, such as the sword and staff, multiple power-ups can be collected, thus increasing their offensive level.

Aside from smashing people's faces in, there's also a fair amount of exploration to do. Also, throughout the 12 fantasy environments that make up the game world, a variety of mysteries and puzzles must be solved in order to progress.

So, a bit like Tomb Raider then? Well yes, but with a tad more violence and featuring a lead character with a slightly smaller chest. But only slightly.
