Summary

Yes, the evil prince, the smelly donkey, and the ogre in disguise are all back for another console outing thanks to TDK, this time in a multi-player adventure, Shrek Super Party for GameCube. Coming six months after the Xbox release of the same game, Super Party pits friends and family in a host of mini-games spread throughout the fairylands. From bug collecting to obstacle courses, Shrek Super Party offers a feast of fun for all fans of the loveable(ish) ogre!

Sensing a general listlessness across the land, Lord Farquaad decides to organise a tournament to entertain the masses, hosted in his usual flamboyant manner by the Magic Mirror. You're up for a bit of fun, so get to it!

Super Party offers a party game in which up to four participants travel through five fairytale realms to play mini-games, challenge other players to games, collect bugs to extract bug juice and send unfortunate co-travellers to the Evil Bog. The first player to get 100 drops of bug juice at the end of a round wins the game. The mini games include arcade shooting, racing, collecting, puzzles and several other simple yet addictive party pieces. Each game has a short learning curve, but all are skill-based, making them easy to learn and difficult to master.

The GameCube port, although no more spectacular than the PS2 and Xbox versions, is slightly more accessible with respect to the console's ergonomic controller. This helps makes each of the mini-games easier to learn and play is much more comfortable. And the visuals do look very nice too, in case you were wondering.

Party games are a rapidly growing genre, and with games like Shrek Super Party available, it's not hard to see why.
