Summary

Ah, life at Bikini Bottom. It's a (sea) breeze. Everybody living in perfect harmony, minor mishaps and crises regularly turning into fun-filled adventures - life doesn't get much better than this. But, as with all interactive adventures starring the most famous sea sponge around, the next challenge is never far away, and this time it's all about foiling the evil Plankton. He's going to try and take over the world, and it's up to SpongeBob, Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks to stop him. You know, with SpongeBob's ever-optimistic outlook on life, and a little help from his friends, you might just succeed.

Your 2D platforming prowess is put to the test as you assume control of SpongeBob, Patrick Star or Sandy Cheeks, and take to the ocean floor and its myriad obstacles. With a selection of skills and moves such as 'tongue-boarding', 'underwear bungee jumping' and the 'lasso-copter', conquering Plankton should be a doddle. But take into account the 16 levels on offer, not to mention additional bonus levels, and we're talking about a big challenge on such a small cartridge. There's even an attempt at pulling off some blurry motion camera effects a la The Matrix or Max Payne, so you can savour the special moves of whichever character you're controlling. Neat-o!

Chock-full of the inimitable SpongeBob humour, 'Cruise Bubble' power-ups, daft but effective manoeuvres, and good old-fashioned motivation to save the world from wrong-doers, Battle For Bikini Bottom is more than worthy of your attention if you're hankering after a little light-hearted platforming.
