Summary

Those familiar with the Legend of Zelda series in its entirety will also know of a certain 8-bit instalment that proved to be something of a bogus entry for Nintendo. Not a true RPG, Zelda II is in fact more closely related your average platform experience. But it wasn't a bad game at all, and offering a dose of history to those who want it, the 1980's Zelda sequel is to make an appearance on GBA.

When Zelda plunges into an eternal sleep, only Link can break the spell and wake her. To do so, he must put six crystals back where they belong and retrieve the legendary Tri-Force. Meanwhile, however, Ganon's fanatical devotees are rushing to resurrect their master...

Ditching the top-down design of the series debut, Zelda II instead pits players in a side-on scrolling environment against a veritable horde of undead inhabitants before facing off with series villain Ganon. Locales will take you across vast deserts and underground caves as you roam the familiar world of Hyrule. Along the way you'll be faced with any number of platform-base obstacles, and you'll make use of the one and only Master Sword to do away with Ganon's ensuing minions.

Though radically different from any other game in the series, Zelda II still manages to deliver a solid, and to a degree faithful, adventure that is worth playing just as much as the original.
