Summary

After entertaining Japanese rhythm game lovers at the launch of the Nintendo DS, the West now gets a taste of handheld musical action with Jam With The Band! The game sees you working your way up from a lowly musician to a member of a worldwide sensation – you do this by going into the studio and recording music in time to the demo track.

Pressing the face buttons (and the touch screen, on occasion) in perfect rhythm will give you the best score possible, and will get you recognised enough to progress to the next stage. The easiest stages only require you to use the A, B, X and Y buttons, but as you get better you'll be required to use the D-pad and L and R buttons in addition to these.

50 pre-installed songs can be played, including classics like ABC, Jungle Boogie, Smoke on the Water and Chariots of Fire – as well as classical pieces and even Nintendo songs from F-Zero, Zelda, Mario and more. Around 50 more songs will be downloadable via the Nintendo WiFi Connection too!

When you're bored of those songs though, you can go ahead and make your own. A music editor allows you to program eight different parts of a track and take advantage of a sound bank containing more than 50 instruments to create your masterpiece. The Nintendo DS microphone can also be used to record sound. Upload these tracks using the WiFi Connection and have your friends download and try them out.
