Summary

Life as a human can be hard enough, but imagine being about three inches high and made of... fungus. Such is the life of the Mushroom Men. The name was a bit of a giveway, wasn't it?

As you may or may not have noticed on your innocent wanderings through the woods looking at mushrooms, they're not typically alive. The Mushroom Men are different, because an ichorous green meteor has plummeted to Earth bestowing life on previously non-sentient lifeforms such as mushrooms and cacti, and warping and mutating the animals around it. That very same meteor is the key to winning the day and saving an entire species from the brink of destruction.

The Spore Wars picks up where Mushroom Men: Rise of the Fungi left off, with a now-developed mushroom society at war with itself. Pax, a Bolete mushroom from the outskirts, is blissfully ignorant of his place in the events to come, but when he stumbles into a Bolete village and accidentally absorbs its meteor fragment, he finds himself on a quest that could decide the fate of all mushrooms!

The Spore Wars is a mix-up of platforming and adventure gameplay. Players make their way around rich and varied levels, choosing from multiple routes and scouring their surroundings for pick-ups. There's a pretty good chance they'll have to take out some renegade animals on the way, though. (The world's pretty dangerous when you're three inches high, y'know?) But fear not! Helping out with the combat is a scavenging and weapons system that enables players to build all manner of contraptions from the goodies they find lying around.

Think The Borrowers, but with a more fungal theme!
