Summary

Dodgeball is a uniquely American game, which has come to global fame recently mainly due to the Ben Stiller movie of the same name. Pirates are the famously peg-legged, hook handed, parrot sporting thieves of the high seas. Ninjas are stealthy martial artists who can kill you with an askance look.

Many will be familiar with the raging internet debate/cultural phenomenon that posits the question, would Pirates or Ninjas be victorious in a fight (the answer, by the way is Ninjas - easy!).

Blazing Lizard's Wii game, Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball, puts an interesting spin on the debate/phenom and asks, 'which would be victorious in a game of dodgeball?' (the answer here depends on which side Ben Stiller is on, obv).

Despite its peculiar premise, the game is actually a fairly reasonable dodgeball simulator. The rules of dodgeball are (fairly) simple, players line up facing one another and throw a ball at one another. If the person at whom the ball is thrown catches it, the thrower is eliminated. If they do not catch it, and the ball falls to the floor, they are eliminated.

In PvsND, throwing the ball while stationary gives good aim and control, throwing it while moving gives the ball momentum in the direction you were moving. Every action - running, dodging or throwing drains a player's energy - just like in real life. But with a playfield of Pirates and Ninjas (and other teams too) this is no simulation! The action takes place on a range of unusual locations that add variety to the game, and each team has special powers that can be used to help them in their quest for victory.
