Summary

Slitherine Strategies, developer of Military History Commander: Europe at War (MHC) for the PSP, has dubbed its game as the first high level strategy game to come to Sony's handheld, enabling the player to take complete control of everything to do with running an effective war machine, spanning reconnaissance, diplomacy and economics through to recruitment, research and military action. The game is set in the World War II era, giving players the choice of controlling the Axis or Allied forces through the whole of the war in the European Theatre.

MHC comes in the form of a turn-based strategy game set in a hex grid campaign map which takes in the United States of America in the west and spans all the way to the Ural region of Russia. The game's user interface has been designed so as not to cause too much confusion to newcomers to this kind of game. Verily, the emphasis is on action, as most of the game is spent battling the enemy, and rightly so. The artificial intelligence offers an exciting challenge throughout six scenarios, including D-Day and Operation Barbarossa.

For a bit of respite, there is plenty of in-game footage from the History Channel to pore over, as well as static images courtesy of Osprey Publishing, a leading publisher of military history books.
