At last, Japanese role playing fans across the country can get a taste of some hardcore, relentless Middle-Aged combat, courtesy of From Software and its infamous Demon's Souls adventure. You play as an unnamed warrior, clad in silver armour and wielding a mighty sword, determined to save humanity from the brink of destruction by the hands of a demon.

See, many years prior to this era of terror and confusion, the monarch of the land of Boletaria, King Allant the XII, decided to go on a bit of a power trip. It wasn't enough to rule a land or a country, he wanted to control as much as he was able to. He discovers an ice shrine in the mountains called the Nexus, which granted him the power of the souls onto him and brought prosperity to the kingdom.

Unfortunately, King Allant wanted a bit more than that, so he went back to the Nexus, only to awaken a long-forgotten evil called the Old One. And now the land is knee-deep in the dire consequences of his actions. If ever a fable could be made from a game, this would be the perfect inspiration.

Many other champions from other lands adventured forth to slay the demon, but to no avail. Now it's your turn, and the traditional combat and level up system really adds to a sense of urgency to your gameplay. You have to watch every move you make, because the difficulty curve in Demon's Souls really makes you believe the land is powered by demons. This isn't your grandma's Wii sporting event, this is gaming role playing at its most distilled.
