Summary

Picross. A puzzle game that merges pictures with crosswords. Simple, you might think, and a Nintendo classic, first appearing on the Game Boy with Mario's Picross. You use the numbers written along the top and left hand side of a grid to fill in squares and create a picture. But what do you do when you have a cube, not a grid, and the pictures are in fact 3D models?

Welcome to the next level – Picross 3D on the Nintendo DS. Instead of filling in grid squares, here you must chisel out a particular number of blocks out of a nondescript cube, to reveal an item within. Over 350 objects are hiding within puzzles of varying difficulty; you'll need to apply new tactics over time as different gameplay elements are thrown at you.

Of course, when you're dealing with 3D space, puzzle games get a lot more cerebral. Which is why, in comparison to Picross DS' 2D grids, there are fewer rules here to worry about. You'll be given numbers of blocks to chisel out from each column, but you don't have to compare multiple rows to get your prize – you only need to apply logical rules.

When you've finished all of the puzzles, or fancy taking a break, the Editor mode allows you to get creative and build your own Picross 3D levels. Upload your work via the Nintendo WiFi Connection and enter an international competition for best puzzle, as well as add new challenges and additional content to your game too.
