Summary

You've heard it plenty of times before, but we'll ask it again: 'War. What is it good for?' Making people feel at peace, apparently.

In Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces – based on the manga by Hiroshi Mori and subsequent anime film – there is no more war. Taking its place are elaborate battle 'shows' staged by corporations to make people feel at ease. Into this strange situation you step, signing on as a top-ranked pilot just transferred to the Rostock Corporation. Things have gotten a little strange at Rostock, however. The company has just taken on a fresh batch of pilots who appear to be children, and even the officers there can't understand it. One girl, Maumi Orishina, stands out from the rest. It's against this strange backdrop that you take to the skies.

The Wii's Nunchuk will be your joystick as you cut through the skies in arcade-style dogfights. Rather than using its thumbstick, however, you'll actually tilt the Nunchuk to tilt, roll, pitch and yaw your aircraft, while the Wii Remote is used as the throttle, tilted up and down to accelerate and decelerate.

The game incorporates the "Tactical Manoeuvre Command", which enables players to perform pre-programmed manoeuvres to get the edge over enemy planes.

The game takes on the anime trappings of the film, offering up beautiful backdrops to your frantic airborne action. The in-game graphics are further supplemented by cutscenes from Production I.G., which also produced the Sky Crawlers film.
