Summary

Many Formula 1 racing games put you right in the hot-seat, experiencing each exhilirating race first-hand. But what about the rest of the racing team, that sit by the sidelines? Do they sit there and twiddle their thumbs while your vehicle zooms past the pit lanes? Of course not – management is just as important a factor in winning a race as the actual driving bit.

If you're more of a behind-the-scenes type of player that likes to pull strings in order to achieve victory, then Pole Position 2010 is the simulation game for you. It puts you right in the thick of the organisational action as you look after your very own racing team. From the start, your challenge is to negotiate contracts with potential drivers, suppliers and sponsors and take part in research and development for your chosen car.

A huge choice of 200 drivers and 1000 crew members is available to you, each with their advantages and disadvantages. No one person will be perfect – the idea is to balance the team so that each drawback is covered and every possible outcome can be acted on with little fuss. When you have a team prepared, take them to task over 17 different race tracks and see how they all get on. And if they don't do a good job, sling them out to dry and get new personnel. Just don't let the God mentality get to your head.
