Summary

A fresh face on the golfing game scene has got to be welcome, especially as it's the character-ful visage of John Daly.

Pro-Stroke is the key to the game given that it's the name of the control system that you and virtual John Daly use to control your shots. The system uses a variety of meters and gauges to indicate how your back-swing is playing, whether you're over-using your wrists and getting that slice, and whether your follow-through is helping or hindering you.

This system also enables you to shape your shots rather than selecting them from a menu. For example, in the case of a low-level shot that avoids the treeline (a punch) you have to ensure that your club face and follow-through are positioned correctly. The same is true for other speciality shots such as the Chip.

The game also allows the virtual golfer to swing their way around 12 courses specially designed to the give the game its own levels of challenge and variation. These all come with AI spectators who really like to get involved in the game, both showing their pleasure – and their dislike – at what the player is achieving.

Commentary is provided in lively style by legendary golf great Sam Torrance and “The Voice of Golf” Peter Kessler.

As well as playing tournament golf on the 12 courses, players also have the ability to go into 'Challenge Mode' in which John Daly himself sets some tests to both test and improve your skills.
