Summary
Ice Hockey: fast, violent, skilful, incredibly difficult to emulate as a video game? Not so much. 2K's NHL 2K 11 for Wii makes use of the Wii Motion Plus to achieve one-to-one moves including dekes, puck juggling, shooting and defensive manoeuvres.
This year's iteration of the US/Canadian National Hockey League also introduces the Road to the Cup mode. This takes a side-step from the traditional, core, hockey game and sees mini-games, trivia challenges and skills competitions introduced into the mix.
These add to the classic game-play aspects that see sticks (but not arms) broken, rapid-fire action, and memorable team line-ups. The opposition Artificial Intelligence (AI) has also been improved in order to present a greater challenge.
All this comes with a soundtrack featuring the likes of Alice in Chains, Wolfmother, Rise Against, Radio Radio and plenty of others.
