Summary

Harvest Moon: A New Beginning is a big choice of name for a series that's built its fanbase by being consitent for the last decade and a half. This latest game in the series doesn't throw the baby with the bathwater, though. It's still very recognisably a Harvest Moon game, complete with RPG elements and farm simulation. Now you just have some bigger choices to make!

For starters, for the first time ever players can customise their characters. From the word go they can tweak their male or female avatar to look just how they want, and then when the tailor comes back to town they can take it a step further and customise their clothes!

It doesn't stop there though. Players can even customise the very land they're working with! Don't like the location of a particular crop? Just pick it up and move it. Job done.

Things have got bigger as well as deeper, though. It's not just your farm that needs revitalising - it's the village it's in, too. Echo Village is all but deserted when you find it. The villagers have all left. It's up to the player to make changes such as a local topiary or park benches to lure the other characters back and take Echo Village back to its former glory.
