Summary

After taking a bit of a break (and a brief foray into peripheral-based digital skating) Robomodo is looking to bring the Tony Hawk series back to its roots with Pro Skater 5. This is a series with a lot of fans and a lot of nostalgia behind it, and those fans will find a game focused on the core Tony Hawk experience.

Players can dive into a range of stages, taking on the role of pro skaters such as Tony Hawk (of course), Nyjah Huston, Riley Hawk, Aaron “Jaws” Homoki, Ishod Wair, Leticia Bufoni, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Andrew Reynolds, and Lizzie Armanto. Or, of course, there's the option to customise your own character.

Just as before, you'll need to ollie, grind, manual, and revert, stringing together insane combos to get where you need to be. There's a new addition to the mix, with the 'slam' mechanic, a move that enables you to drop straight to the ground and into a grind.

Levels have been carefully designed with lines to pick out for stringing together the most awesome combos, and seasoned players will start to see lines in their head, approaching each stage like a puzzle to be solved.

For those looking for a more social experience there's online multiplayer, which basically turns the levels into social hubs. They come with versus modes, though, including quick match, trick attack, deathmatch, combo mambo (nail single combos to win), big head (keep stringing together tricks to refresh your life bar), and king of the hill.

For people with a more creative flourish, there's also a mode that enables you to create your own stages and share them with the community, creating a potentially endless stream of content!
