Summary

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is launching into a very different world to its predecessor, Marvel vs Capcom 3. Last time, the Avengers hadn't even all gotten together in one film on the big screen. In 2017, we've seen 16 Marvel movies on the big screen and Marvel is one of the biggest brands on the planet. As a result, Capcom has brought big changes to bear.

The most immediate is a much deeper story than we've seen in previous series entries. Ultron Sigma is running amok and, with Infinity Stones thrown into the mix, he's managed to put both our heroes' universes in peril. The result is a cinematic storyline in a style familiar to fans of the DC Injustice games.

Similarly, Capcom has gone for a much more cinematic style of visuals. You'll still see the over-the-top visuals of previous Marvel vs Capcom games, but delivered in a less cartoon-y style.

Perhaps most significant, however, is Capcom's bid to make the fighting mechanics a bit more accessible to those coming to the Marvel vs Capcom games afresh. The house style can certainly still be seen, with elements such as air combos still in play, but the controls are now designed with control pads (rather than sticks) explicitly in mind and the fights are now two on two rather than three on three.

Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned vet, however, you're in for a massive, explosive fighting game starring a deep bench of characters from both universes!
