Summary

While Telltale Games has been off reinventing the point and click adventure for the last few years, Studio Fizbin has been working quietly away at breathing fresh life in the more traditional 2D point and click space. Its 2013 release, The Inner World, landed well enough to not only merit a sequel but also to get a multi-platform release for the follow-up.

The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk picks things up three years after the original. Robert is still petrified (literally, in the sense he's encased in stone) but more disturbing things are afoot. The physics-defying world of Asposia is divided and Emil, a trader of odds and ends, has made everyone believe that our heroes, the flute-noses, are in cahoots with dark forces. The flute-noses are persecuted, and it's up to Robert to limber up and sort things out with the help of Peck, a flightless bird, and Laura, a rebel who also happens to be the apple of Robert's eye.

What follows is a series of whimsical, mind-bending puzzles that take place in a beautifully hand-drawn world. To handle the transition to console, Studio Wizbit has made all three of the main characters playable, and Peck can flit about the screen in place of the mouse that normally does the pointing and the clicking. There's also a powerful hint system that will help newcomers who are still finding their feet in the genre.
