Summary

The Atelier series is a bit of a mammoth these days, boasting a string of releases that goes back more than 20 years to the original PlayStation (not the mention the SEGA Saturn and Dreamcast). Within it, developer GUST has carved out its own niche with the Arland titles, a group of games that explore the titular realm with interconnected stories, time sensitive quests and a ton of replayability. With Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland GUST has streamlined some of the game's systems while teeing up the next wave of games in this beloved franchise.

You play as the young Elmerulia Fryxell, an energetic and optimistic alchemist doing her best to live up to the legacy of her mother, the legendary Rorona Fryxell. If you're a long time player of the series you'll find a lot to keep you happy here, with plenty of returning characters and loads of opportunities to see how the passage of time has affected key people and places from the series. This isn't just a spin around the old block, however - Arland will keep opening up as you play, offering tons of environments to explore as you scavenge for materials, indulge in some fishing or blow up a few rocks.

Alchemy is, of course, front and centre and it comes with new features that streamline synthesis, blending Arland-style gameplay with the latest Mysterious series. For fans new and old, this is a great way to explore Arland!
