After a grammar school education that saw him gain 10 GCSEs, Alex studied for a BTEC in computer studies before getting a job as an artist at NMS Software.

He then moved to Vivid Image, and Silicon Dreams.

In May 2002 Alex moved to work at The Bitmap Brothers, to head up their internal art team.

Software Highlights from Credited Titles

Alex Smale's first video game work that SPOnG is aware of is the 1999 title, "UEFA Champions League Season 1998/99" (PlayStation) as Level/Map Design. Of the titles listing Alex within the credits , "Sega Worldwide Soccer 2000" (Dreamcast) has been a best selling title.

Alex's most recent involvement was as Lead Artist on the 2000 release "UEFA Dream Soccer" (Dreamcast).
