Summary

One of the most searched for terms on the internet, the anime series Dragonball Z hardly needs an introduction. The cartoon features the efforts of a group of heroes to unite the powerful Dragon Balls, who are all at the same time intent on becoming the most powerful warrior around. The series, following the adventures of Goku and his allies, is a Japanese national treasure these days and is no stranger to the world of video games, having first been the subject of a game back in the days of the NES.

The Gamecube has already seen the release of the more recent incarnations of the game, and this RPG requires you to develop the skills of Goku and Gohan by entering tournaments and the like, in preparation for a testing battle. Now the second game in this series is here in the form of Dragonball Z: Budokai 2.

This version, a single-player adventure, follows Goku and his buddies once again as they enter the Dragonworld in search of the Dragon Balls. Negotiate the obstacles in your path and watch out for the hand of Buu at work as you do so. With 29 characters all playable - some endowed with the power to undergo transformations by absorbing energy - the game is sure to delight fans of the series. Cel-shaded graphics in the original Akira Toriyama style also add to the authentic experience.

The story mode features episodes from throughout the series, which has spanned more than 20 years, but the game also features a multiplayer duel mode. Characters can be unlocked by playing the main game. A simplistic fighting style and faithful attention to detail, bringing the series to life, will mean that this game really appeals to fans of the series.
