Summary

There's no beating about the bush with Kinectimals, it is quite definitely a game aimed at the children of the family. In very short summary, it's an Xbox 360 title that makes use of the Kinect controller and enables the player to nurture a virtual pet.

There are 20 cute animal pals to choose from – all of which begin their virtual lives as cubs. These include a Bengal Tiger, Black Panther, Cheetah, King Cheetah, Leopard, Lion and a Maltese Tiger.

Once you've encountered your pet for the first time – and this may happen via unlocking a code from some of the limited edition plush Kinectimal dolls available from Microsoft and game developer Frontier Developments – it's your task to befriend and train them. This means using the full-body control boasted by Kinect. Using this, the player teaches the pet to to come running as well as responding to other voice controls such as "jump", "roll over" and "play dead".

The Kinectimal will also respond to 'touch' whether this is rubbing their tummies or smacking them around the head, the virtual pet will react to the gamer, and will learn from their actions.

All of this plays out in a series of environments including Fiddler's Beach, La Selva, Cherry Blossom Grove, Suri Mountain, Celestial Glacier.

Once the gamer has their animal pal trained, it can also be shown off – and learn new tricks – using Xbox Live.
